SERENGETI GREAT WILDEBEEST MIGRATION

The millions of wildebeest and zebras move in large herds, their location is largely dependent on the weather and vary considerably from year to year. In general the herds assemble south of the Serengeti during January and February, the season in which they give birth to their young. Starting around March they begin moving north and west in search of fresh grazing through the Serengeti Park.They can move in enormously long single file lines or in huge herds. The bulk of the animals reach the Maasai Mara in Kenya, where they tend to remain during July and August, before starting their return trek southward, back through the Serengeti in November.

TANZANIA BIRDING TOUR

Tanzania is one of Africa’s best birding destinations. It has one of the largest species lists of any African country: over 1,100 of which over 800 species are resident and nearly 200 are regular migrants. 22 species are endemic to Tanzania and a further 43 are near-endemic. Migrants are present from November to April.

Best time for birdwatching
The birdlife in Tanzania is good year-round, but at its best from November to April when the migratory birds from Europe and Northern Africa are present. At this time, many resident bird species are nesting and are in breeding plumage. The wettest months are March and April, when parts of the country may experience storms on a daily basis. The wet season is also the hottest time of the year, which may be uncomfortably hot on the coast. For wildlife viewing, the dry season is better.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING

Chose a routes with varying degrees of difficulty and time on the mountain. All of our climbs are custom outfitted for each climb party. Your private group will have its own guide, porters and with the exception of the Marangu Route, your camp, though shared with others on similar climbs, will have a personal chef to prepare meals especially for your party. Naturally, you will encounter other people on the mountain and in the campsites, but the team organising your climb are dedicated to you and your friends and family who make up your climb adventure.

MOUNT MERU CLIMBING

Mount Meru - the fifth highest Mountain in Africa at 4,566 metres (14,990 feet). Its peaks and eastern footslopes are protected within the Arusha National Park, Meru offers unparalleled views of its famous neighbour Mt. Kilimanjaro, while also forming a rewarding hiking destination in its own right.

Passing first through wooded savannah where buffalos and giraffes are frequently encountered, the ascent of Meru leads into forests aflame with red-hot pokers and dripping with Spanish moss, before reaching high open heath spiked with giant lobelias. Everlasting flowers cling to the alpine desert, as delicately-hoofed klipspringers mark the hike’s progress. Astride the craggy summit, Kilimanjaro stands unveiled, blushing in the sunrise.
